Optimized Design of a Novel Hydraulic Propeller Turbine for Low Heads

In the present paper, an optimized design procedure capable of providing geometry a high efficiency compact hydraulic propeller turbine for low head is proposed and developed. The preliminary based on fundamental turbomachinery mean-line equations employment statistical correlations, which relate main geometrical parameters to parameters. first obtained represents starting point automated aerodynamic single optimization genetic algorithm generating updating wide database geometries. approach employs three-dimensional (3D) Reynolds averaged Navier–Stokes (RANS) solver construction corresponding performance. A meta-model, such as artificial neural network (ANN), used speed up process. has been applied practical case novel simplified prototype very heads. adopted able modify blade vane geometries in order achieve automatically targeted net maximum total internal once diameter, mass flow rate, rotational are assigned.
